Seasonal Reflections: A Time to Transform and Recalibrate

As we step into summer, many of us feel a change. The days are longer. The sun shines stronger. We spend more time outdoors. We get busy with travel, family plans, or work goals. Everything feels full of energy.

In Ayurveda, this season is ruled by Pitta dosha. Pitta brings heat, drive & transformation. It’s about action. It pushes us to move forward and get things done. But that push can also become pressure. We feel like we have to go faster, do more & stay ahead. But sometimes, more is not better. Especially now.

The World Feels Heavy

Even while summer tells us to move, the world feels a bit too loud. There’s a lot going on. News cycles feel intense. Politics are tense. Social issues keep growing. And in our personal lives, many of us feel the weight.

There’s a strong pull in the opposite direction. One that asks us to slow down, to breathe & to rest.

This tension between movement and rest is real. You might want to hustle but feel tired. You might want to create but feel stuck. That’s okay. It’s a sign that we need balance. Not just action, but space to reflect.

Our Bodies Are Showing the Signs

So many people today are tired. Not just a little tired but deeply exhausted. In Ayurveda, this is often linked to Vata imbalances. These imbalances show up as:

Trouble sleeping

Anxiety

Hormonal issues

Autoimmune conditions

Mood swings

Nervous system overload

The fast pace of modern life makes it worse. We’re always online. Always busy. Always thinking. Our bodies are trying to keep up, but they can’t. In the East, life is also getting faster. It’s starting to look more like the West. Everyone is running in the same race. And that’s where the problem begins. Constant stress builds up & the body starts to react.

It may sound simple, but slowing down is powerful. When we stop pushing, we give the body and mind space to heal. You don’t need a big plan. Start small. Maybe you can take 10 minutes in the morning to sit in silence or go for a slow walk without your phone or even drink tea and do nothing else.

 

This is the time to check in with yourself. Ask:

  • Am I tired?
  • Am I overwhelmed?
  • What do I need right now?

 

Listen to your body. It will tell you. You just have to be quiet enough to hear it.

Summer brings heat. It pushes us to stay active and do more. But too much heat can wear us out. That’s why it’s important to cool off – not just with cold drinks or food, but with your mind & energy, too.

Make Room for Real Change

This season is not only about relaxing. It’s also about realignment. When things feel off, it’s a chance to look at what’s not working. Maybe your habits need an update. Maybe your thoughts have become negative. Or maybe you’re holding onto pain that needs to be released.

This isn’t about ignoring hard emotions. Feel them, let them move through you. But don’t stay in the pain forever. Let it teach you something.

  • What can you shift?
  • Your sleep routine?
  • Your time on screens?
  • How do you eat or move?
  • The way you speak to yourself?

Change doesn’t have to be big. Even small steps matter. What counts is that you choose them with awareness. Let the season guide you – not just to do more, but to do what truly matters.
