When we cannot rely on the external, we must focus internally.

We have now officially transitioned into the year of the Wood Snake. This year in particular represents the kundalini energy rising from the base of our spine to our third eye – helping us in the pursuit of our dreams and passions. This earth-bound animal is also the year to stabilize the physical body – through prioritizing health first.
While the energy of this lunar new year encourages us to focus on our physical health, recent events in our country make this even more critical. We’re nearly two weeks into the CDC and NIH being silenced by the current administration, halting public service announcements about circulating viruses, disease outbreaks, and vital updates like food recalls.
With these two large energies combined, the time to bring Ayurveda into your daily life is
NOW!

Winter Wellness Tips
Winter can be challenging for many of us. Here are my top 5 tips to support strong digestion, maintain a sense of lightness in the body, and promote mental clarity.
1. Start Your Day with Warmth
Begin your morning with a cup of hot water to gently awaken your digestive system. If you don’t have excess Pitta, ginger tea is a great option to boost circulation and metabolism, setting the tone for steady energy throughout the day.
2. Move First Thing in the Morning
Engage in 20 minutes of gentle movement right after waking up. This helps stimulate digestion, improve circulation, and clear any mental fog. Whether it’s yoga, stretching, or a brisk walk, consistent morning movement keeps your body and mind energized.
3. Choose Light, Nourishing Foods
Favor warm, easy-to-digest meals like soups, stews, and dishes with light, non-creamy sauces. Opt for grains like quinoa, barley, and buckwheat over heavier options like wheat or dosa, and limit hard-to-digest beans such as chickpeas and kidney beans. Enjoy a small, early dinner to support optimal digestion and restful sleep.
4. Prioritize Rest and Restoration
Above all, make time for rest. True lightness in the body comes from proper restoration. When we push too hard, we hold onto unnecessary inflammation, water retention, and stress. Incorporate regular downtime to allow your body and mind to recharge fully.
5. Embrace Kapha Season.
Align with the grounding energy of Kapha season by creating space for restoration and renewal. Slow down, reflect, and allow yourself to recharge, just as nature does during this time. Honoring this seasonal shift supports balance, clarity, and a refreshed sense of well-being.
